Bath bombs!
I made these on a pamper day at the hospice, they were so easy and lovely that I’ve made then a few times since.
Here’s how.
Ingredients
- 300g bicarbonate of soda
- 100g citric acid
- 2tsp carrier oil (I like almond oil)
- Few drops of essential oil
- Petals or other dry ingredients to add as decoration (optional)
- Sprinkling of water
- Few drops of food colouring (optional, if you want to colour the bath!)
Method
- Mix together the Bicarb and citric acid, then add any other dry ingredients (lavender works really well)
- In a separate small pot, mix the oils and, if using, the food colouring.
- Add the oil mix to the dry mix and combine really well.
- Ideally using a spray bottle (we call them scooshers), add a spray of water at a time, mixing really quickly after each spray so it doesn’t fizz! You’ll only need a few sprays, don’t add too much at once.
- When the mixture is at the stage where it can clog together if you squish it, it’s ready.
- Put into a mould and push down so it’s really compact.
- After about an hour, push it out and leave to dry completely.
- Done!
For a relaxing soak, use 6 drops of lavender, 6 drops of Roman chamomile and a small handful of dried lavender.
The picture above is my Christmas bath bomb, 8 drops frankincense and 8 drops of myhhr essential oils, I lined the mould with gold glitter, gold leaf would make these ultra luxurious!
For a wake up bath, use 10 drops of peppermint and 5 drops of lemon.
